Herman Miller engaged the Stanford Center for Critical Foresight to help envision higher education learning environments twenty years (and more) in the future. Working as partners, the Center and Herman Miller investigated the long-term of issues like formal and informal spaces, the use of technology and furniture, student lifestyles and preferences, and group collaboration and learning. The output of this project, a collection of scenarios and the explanation, addumptions, and models that drove each, were used by Herman Miller to develop research insights to develop a demo space, which debuted at the Campus of the Future conference in 2006. "It's critical to design a future that enriches learning and contributes to the success of students," said Lori Gee, Herman Miller's Education Solutions Lead.
